Jhansi, April 30 -- A major theft took place late last night at the Thakur Baba Temple located in the Punjabi Colony area under Babina police station limits in Jhansi.

Unknown thieves targeted the temple and fled with valuables, including the donation box, a silver crown of Thakur Baba, and a copper serpent placed on the Shivling, police said on Thursday.

According to temple priest Mahendra Yadav, he discovered the incident when he arrived at the temple in the morning on Thursday.

"The items inside the temple were scattered, and the donation box was missing," he said. He added that the box contained approximately Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. The thieves also broke open a cupboard inside the temple and stole the silver crown kept there.
