Hyderabad, June 8 -- Telangana Labour, Employment, Mines and Geology Minister G Vivek Venkataswamy on Monday announced that the state government would soon introduce a special welfare policy for gig workers while intensifying action against illegal sand mining activities.

Addressing a media conference on completing one year in office, the Minister said the proposed gig workers policy would include social security, insurance and healthcare benefits for workers engaged in app-based and other informal sectors.

Vivek Venkataswamy said the government was committed to ensuring minimum wages and protecting workers' rights across sectors.
