Hyderabad, Sept. 23 -- A delegation of Telangana Ministers Vakiti Srihari and Jupally Krishna Rao, along with MLAs Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, Megha Reddy and Madhusudan Reddy, met Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and urged him to release Krishna river water to protect standing crops in southern Telangana.
The delegation sought the continuous release of 5,000 cusecs of Krishna water for one month to meet the irrigation needs of the Jurala, Bhima, Nettempadu and Koilsagar ayacut areas.
The leaders told the Karnataka Chief Minister that the four irrigation schemes together cover around 5.5 lakh acres, with thousands of farming families depending on agriculture for their livelihood.
