Hyderabad, Sept. 10 -- Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Thursday said the government was taking steps to increase vegetable cultivation, strengthen farm infrastructure and reduce dependence on supply from other States.
Replying to questions in the Legislative Assembly, the Minister said vegetable cultivation had declined from around 3 lakh acres to one lakh acres, forcing the State to import about 6 lakh metric tonnes of vegetables in 2025-26. The government plans to bring one lakh acres under vegetables during the current Vanakalam season and another one lakh acres in Rabi.
