Hyderabad, June 8 -- Telangana Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha on Monday directed officials to maintain strict surveillance and take all precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the Ebola virus in the state, following outbreaks reported in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda and South Sudan.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the Secretariat, the Minister reviewed the preparedness measures, surveillance mechanisms, inter-departmental coordination and emergency response systems put in place by the Health Department.
Emphasising that there should be "no negligence" in handling suspected Ebola cases, Raja Narasimha instructed officials to ensure meticulous collection and testing of samples.
