Hyderabad, June 18 -- Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka on Thursday alleged that the Centre's proposed changes to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) would adversely affect rural workers and place an additional financial burden on states.
Speaking to the media after an informal Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat, Seethakka said the BJP-led Central Government has been attempting to dilute the rural employment guarantee programme and is now seeking to implement a revised scheme, referred to as "VBG RAM G," from July 1.
