Hyderabad, June 17 -- Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka on Wednesday said the people's government is committed to the welfare of farmers and ensuring that the poor have access to fine rice varieties.

Chairing a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting at the Dr B R Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, Bhatti said the government is taking steps to encourage the cultivation of high-quality rice varieties that enjoy strong demand in national and international markets, thereby improving farmers' incomes.

The meeting, attended by Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao, reviewed agricultural production, paddy procurement, storage facilities and preparations for the upcoming Vanakalam (Kharif) season.
