Hyderabad, Aug. 15 -- Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla on Saturday appreciated the rich artistic heritage of Cheriyal Nakashi painting and called for efforts to preserve and promote the traditional folk art form.
The Governor and his wife Janaki Shukla viewed Nakashi masks displayed at Lok Bhavan as part of the arrangements for the Independence Day 'At Home' reception.
Impressed by the craftsmanship, the Governor appreciated Nakashi artist Danalakota Rakesh for his efforts to preserve the art tradition.
Rakesh explained the distinctive features of Nakashi art, the process of making the masks and the traditional knowledge associated with the craft.
