Hyderabad, March 28 -- Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Machileshwara Swamy and Omkareshwara Swamy temples on the banks of the Musi River at Manchirevula near Gandipet on the city's outskirts.
The foundation ceremony was conducted amid Vedic chants.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister described the reconstruction as a "historic occasion", stating that it was being undertaken with "divine will" rather than as a routine development programme.
He said the state government would develop the temples over an area of eight acres at an estimated cost of Rs 700 crore, noting that the region has a history spanning nearly 1,400 years.
