Hyderabad, Sept. 12 -- Telangana IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu on Saturday introduced the Telangana Praja Viswasam (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, in the Assembly, aimed at decriminalising minor, technical and procedural violations and promoting ease of doing business.

Explaining the Bill, Sridhar Babu said it was aligned with the Centre's Jan Vishwas reforms, under which more than 180 minor offences were decriminalised by replacing imprisonment with monetary penalties.

He said a comprehensive review of State laws, conducted with the Commissioner of Industries, identified over 400 penal provisions across 33 departments suitable for reform. The proposed Bill seeks to decriminalise 15 provisions across five departments and...
