Adilabad (Telangana), Sept. 22 -- Two infants died after a fire broke out at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) ward of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here late on Monday night.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy order an inquiry into the incident.
The fire broke out around 11.50 p.m., police said.
Twenty-seven other infants admitted to the ward were safely rescued and evacuated following the incident.
A fire tender was rushed to the hospital after receiving information and brought the blaze under control.
The cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained. Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
District Collector Rajarshi Shah reached the hospital and reviewed the situation.
