Hyderabad, Oct. 11 -- Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president Kalvakuntla Kavitha has demanded separate commissions for Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) in Telangana, stressing the need to empower them with enforceable authority to ensure justice for the affected communities.
Speaking at a roundtable meeting organised by the SC/ST Employees Association at the Press Club, Basheerbagh, on Sunday, she said the issues faced by SCs and STs differed and required separate mechanisms to address discrimination, exploitation and atrocities.
Kavitha said commissions should have powers to ensure implementation of their decisions rather than merely conducting inquiries and making recommendations.
