Hyderabad, Sept. 21 -- BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Monday demanded that the Telangana government immediately release water from the Jurala project to protect standing crops and negotiate with Karnataka for additional water to safeguard farmers in the downstream areas.
Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan here, Mr KTR claimed that farmers were being denied water despite its availability at Jurala.
He alleged that Telangana had utilised only 28 TMC out of the 248 TMC of Krishna water available to the state this year.
He demanded that the government switch on the pumps at Kannepalli and Narlapur and take steps to secure 10 TMC of water from Karnataka.
