Hyderabad, March 2 -- The Telangana state honorary president of the Handloom Workers' Association, Venkatramulu, has demanded that the Telangana government immediately cancel its decision to implement a centralised tender system for supplying textile products to government institutions, terming the move a severe blow to handloom weavers.
In a statement on Monday, Venkatramulu said handloom workers were already facing acute hardship due to a lack of regular work, and the implementation of the tender system would further worsen their situation.
