Hyderabad, April 30 -- Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday caught a bill collector red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 15,000 in Sangareddy district.

The accused, Manthur Nikhil Reddy, an outsourcing Bill Collector working in the office of the Municipal Commissioner at Sadashivpet, allegedly demanded a total bribe of Rs 35,000 from a complainant to process the reduction of property tax from Rs 1,04,480 to Rs 49,892. He had already accepted Rs 20,000 earlier and was caught while receiving the remaining Rs 15,000 at the complainant's residence, a ACB statement said.

ACB officials recovered the tainted cash from his possession and stated that the accused had misused his official position for undue advantage.
