Bengaluru, July 30 -- A 13-year-old cue sports prodigy from Bengaluru, Mohammad Mustafa Ahmed, has won the silver medal at the Junior National Heyball Championship in Dehradun, finishing runner-up despite competing with a borrowed cue in his first major tournament in the discipline.
Mustafa, a multiple Karnataka junior champion in billiards and snooker and currently ranked No. 5 in India in junior snooker, took up Heyball training only in May this year under coach Pranit Ramchandani at the Heyball Academy in Bengaluru.
Despite having undergone only a handful of Heyball training sessions and not owning a Heyball cue, Mustafa borrowed one from a friend and entered the national championship primarily to gain competitive experience.
