Chennai, May 31 -- A teenager was crushed to death under the wheels of a temple chariot and another was injured during a festival at Tiruchengode in Namakkal district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, even as Chief Minister Vijay offered his condolences and announced a solatium of Rs.five lakh to the deceased family.
Reports received here said the tragedy occurred during annual festival at the temple of Lord Arthaneeswarar in the district.
As part of the festival, the presiding deity was taken in a procession in the temple chariot, when 18-year-old Harshvardhan was caught under its giant wheels and suffered serious injuries.
