Chandigarh, Sept. 20 -- An elderly man from Punjab, who went missing during a government-sponsored pilgrimage to Amritsar, was reunited with his family after travelling by train to Bihar, where a stranger sheltered him for four days and used internet searches to trace his village, his family said.
Chaman Lal, a resident of Fatehgarh Gujran village in Ludhiana district, had travelled to Amritsar on Sept 11 under the Punjab government's Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra scheme to visit the Golden Temple.
Lal, who has memory problems, became separated from other members of the group and wandered towards Amritsar railway station, according to his family.
He then boarded a train bound for Bihar and eventually reached Gaya, they said.
