Bhubaneswar, Sept. 10 -- Tata Steel Meramandali has commissioned a Coke Oven Gas (COG) injection project at Blast Furnace-1, marking a first-of-its-kind initiative in the Indian steel industry aimed at reducing fossil fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
The project reinforces Tata Steel's commitment to achieving its Net Zero target by 2045 and underscores its focus on deploying innovative technologies for low-carbon iron and steel production.
Vice President-Technology, R&D, NMB and Graphene, Tata Steel, Subodh Pandey, said the initiative would maximise the utilisation of process gases and reduce dependence on external fossil fuels.
