Chandigarh, April 6 -- National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has called upon the Punjab government to broaden the scope of the proposed anti-sacrilege bill to include "Pran Pratishthit" (consecrated) Hindu idols.
Speaking on the sensitivity of the issue on Monday, Chugh emphasised that while the party holds Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in the highest spiritual regard as the living Guru, any legislation addressing the desecration of holy texts and symbols must ensure equal protection for all faiths without discrimination.
He advocated for stringent legal action, suggesting that incidents of sacrilege should be treated as equivalent to murder, warranting life imprisonment for the perpetrators.
