Riyadh, Aug. 24 -- A tanker was struck by an unknown projectile 63 nautical miles west of Saudi Arabia's Red Sea port city of Yanbu, causing a fire on the vessel's main deck, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said.
UKMTO reported that all crew members were safe and accounted for and that no environmental impact had been reported.
"Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity," the maritime security agency said.
The incident comes as Saudi Arabia has increasingly relied on Red Sea ports such as Yanbu to reroute oil exports following the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
