Dharamshala, Aug. 6 -- The Department of Paediatrics at Dr Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College (RPGMC), Tanda, is observing World Breastfeeding Week 2026 from August 1-7 with a series of awareness, educational and community outreach programmes to promote maternal and child health.
Special counselling and awareness sessions were organised in the labour room, postnatal ward, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), paediatric ward and outpatient department, where doctors, nursing officers, interns and MBBS students educated pregnant women and new mothers on initiating breastfeeding within one hour of birth, exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months, and continued breastfeeding with complementary feeding up to two years or beyond.
