Chennai, Sept. 12 -- Renowned Tamil scholar, orator and Pattimandram (talk show/debate) moderator Solomon Pappiah was cremated as per his last wish with full State honours on Saturday.
Earlier, tens and hundreds of people, including political leaders, film personalities, Pattimandram participants and Tamil enthusiasts bid a tearful farewell to the veteran scholar, who was a recepient of Padma Shri.
Pappiah died at a private hospital in native Madurai at the age of 90 and his body was taken to his residence where people from various walks of life, including Tamil Nadu Ministers, leaders from various political parties, including from the DMK and AIADMK, and those from the Tamil literary world, paid their last respects.
