Itanagar, June 11 -- Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Tai Tagak was today declared elected unopposed to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from Arunachal Pradesh.
The declaration was made by Returning Officer-cum-Secretary of the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, Tadar Meena, after the deadline for withdrawal of nominations expired at 3 pm.
As Tagak was the sole candidate to file nomination papers for the seat and no withdrawal was made within the stipulated period, he was declared elected in accordance with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, and the Conduct of Elections Rules, 1961.
