Hyderabad, Sept. 7 -- A 'Chalo Assembly' rally organised by students demanding the release of pending fee reimbursement dues was stopped mid-way by police at Himayatnagar and Narayanaguda crossroads today, leading to a scuffle between the protesters and police.
Thousands of protesters demanded immediate release of Rs 8,000 crore in fee reimbursement arrears for around 14 lakh students. They alleged that colleges were withholding certificates of nearly six lakh students who had completed their courses due to non-payment of fees.
The rally was led by BC Student Association State Convener Nikhil Patel, BC Castes Forum State president Ananthaiah and BC Welfare Association State president Arvind Swamy.
