Sydney, Aug. 30 -- Ethiopia's Addisu Gobena upgraded his silver from a year ago to gold, claiming the men's elite crown at the 2026 Sydney Marathon in a course record on Sunday.
The 21-year-old Gobena crossed the finish in style in two hours, four minutes and 42 seconds (2:04:42), smashing the previous course record by nearly a minute and a half. Compatriot Chimdesa Debele followed three seconds behind him, with Lesotho's Tebello Ramakongoana (2:04:57) taking third place, with all three podium finishers dipping under the previous course record.
