Kolkata, June 10 -- Swapan Dasgupta, who assumed charge as the Finance Minister of West Bengal's first BJP government on Wednesday, outlined his initial strategy to revive the state's struggling economy.
While refraining from revealing details of the upcoming state budget, Dasgupta made it clear that his immediate focus would be on improving revenue collection rather than imposing new taxes on citizens.
Speaking to the media for the first time after taking charge of the Finance Department, Dasgupta said, "The current economic condition of the state cannot yet be described as encouraging.
