Kolkata, July 27 -- In a surprising development, West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari held a late-night meeting with Sudip Bandopadhyaya at Nabanna on Monday, after his scheduled visit to New Delhi was cancelled.

Neither side disclosed what transpired during the meeting, but the late-night talks with the veteran MP was followed by the postponement of Adhikari's much-awaited interaction with the 20 Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) MPs who had quit the Trinamool Congress, on Tuesday.

The meeting between Adhikari and the NCPI parliamentarians was scheduled for 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Banga Bhavan in New Delhi, ahead of the NDA meeting for which the NCPI MPs have been invited.
