Kolkata, Sept. 7 -- West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has handed over the investigation into the murder of BJP worker Sujit Mondal in Dhulian to the CID, while ordering stringent action against police officers accused of negligence in handling the case.

The chief minister announced the decisions after expressing strong displeasure over the role of the local police.

Based on reports submitted by the Home Secretary and the Director General of Police, the government has suspended two officers and initiated disciplinary action against several others.

The officer-in-charge of the Dhulian TOP (Town Out Post), ASI Sumanta Kumar Das, and Samsherganj police station's second officer, SI Saiful Alam, have been suspended.
