Kolkata, Sept. 1 -- A couple of days after multiple smartphones, including an iPhone, a router and other electronic communication devices were recovered from the cell of convicted criminal Aftab Ansari, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari made a surprise visit to the Presidency Correctional Home here on Tuesday.
Adhikari reached the correctional home at around 2.15pm, in an unannounced inspection that assumes significance amid growing concerns over the presence of prohibited electronic devices inside prisons.
During the visit, the Chief Minister paid his respects at the bust of Sri Aurobindo and inspected the Sri Aurobindo cell, where the freedom fighter had been imprisoned.
