Kolkata, May 8 -- The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday elected Suvendu Adhikari as its Legislature Party leader in West Bengal, clearing the decks for him to take charge as the next chief minister of the state.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the newly elected BJP MLAs, who held deliberations at a New Town hotel.
The meeting was overseen by BJP stalwarts and union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was appointed observer for the deliberations.
