Kolkata, July 4 -- The Suvendu Adhikari-led BJP government in west Bengal has decided to clear seven years of pending pension arrears for retired government employees across the state, offering long-awaited relief to thousands of pensioners whose dues have remained unpaid since 2015.
The decision covers arrears accumulated between 2008 and 2015, with 50 percent of the outstanding amount set to be paid during the current month.
The decision was taken at a meeting held at Nabanna on Friday between Chief Minister's Principal Adviser Subrata Gupta and leaders of the Sangrami Joutha Mancha.
The move is expected to benefit retired employees across several sectors who have been waiting for the payment of their arrears for years.
