New Delhi, Aug. 24 -- Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Narendra Modi government over the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, alleging that the crop insurance scheme was failing farmers while protecting the interests of insurance companies.

In a post on social media platform X, Surjewala claimed that 73 lakh farmers had exited the scheme over the past two years, questioning whether the programme was designed to protect farmers or generate corporate profits.
