New Delhi, April 2 -- Taking a serious note of the attack on judicial officers on Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duty in West Bengal, the Supreme Court said on Thursday the incident was a "brazen attempt" to affect the morale of the officers on duty and a challenge to the authority of the Supreme Court.

In the wake of a gherao and attack on judicial officers performing SIR duties in a village in West Bengal's Malda district, a bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justices Joymalya Bagchi, and Vipul Pancholi took up the matter, though the case was not listed.
