New Delhi, April 16 -- The Supreme Court Thursday rejected a plea filed against the Calcutta High Court's dismissal of the petition challenging the Election Commission's large-scale transfers of IAS and IPS officers, in West Bengal and other states, after the state elections were announced. The court declined to interfere, citing the ongoing assembly elections.

Advocate Arka Kumar Nag's plea was dismissed by the Calcutta High Court.

A bench of CJI Surya Kant, Justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul M Pancholi refused to interfere with the High Court's order. The Court, however, kept the question of law regarding the need for State concurrence open.
