New Delhi, June 1 -- The Supreme Court is poised to operate at near-full strength after the Centre on Monday cleared the appointment of five judges, taking the court's effective strength to 37 against its recently increased sanctioned strength of 38.

In separate notifications issued by the Department of Justice under the union Law Ministry, senior Supreme Court advocate Venkita Subramani Mohana and four High Court Chief Justices-Justice Sheel Nagu of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Shree Chandrashekhar of the Bombay High Court, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, and Justice Arun Palli of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court-were appointed as judges of the Supreme Court.
