Ranchi, March 10 -- Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy on Tuesday raised in the Jharkhand Assembly the issue of alleged supply of about two lakh tonnes of red mud by Hindalco Industries' Muri Works to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) without prior approval from the Jharkhand State Pollution Control Board.
The issue came to light through a written reply by the state Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department to Roy's starred question in the Assembly.
According to the reply, the red mud had been supplied on October 22, 2024 for trial use in the construction of the Gola-Ormanjhi road project.
