Kolkata, March 20 -- The publication of the supplementary voter list in West Bengal, earlier expected on Friday or Saturday, is now likely to be released on Monday, sources in the Election Commission of India said.
Officials in the CEO office indicated that preparations are underway to display the updated electoral roll across nearly 80,000 polling booths once the list is finalised, even as the delay has triggered sharp political reactions.
The issue has drawn criticism from Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who alleged that the process is being deliberately slowed down, potentially inconveniencing voters ahead of the elections.
