Midnapore, Sept. 19 -- The CID on Saturday secured five more days' custody of Sumit Roy, an alleged close associate of Trinamul Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, in connection with the Salboni land scam case, with investigators claiming that Roy's interrogation had yielded crucial leads.
Roy was produced before the Midnapore court on Saturday after the CID completed its earlier remand. The court granted the investigating agency another five days' custody for further questioning.
The CID had arrested Roy in the alleged land irregularities case and produced him before the court on September 11. During the subsequent interrogation, investigators recorded his statement and seized his mobile phone, sources said.
