Chennai, June 20 -- With the Chennai city and its suburbs having been in the grip of intense heat wave conditions with the mercury level recording in excess of 100 Deg F during the last several days, there was a sudden change in weather conditions since Saturday morning, resulting in increased cloud cover with the Met office forecasting light to moderate rains.
The overcast skies since morning has brought down the temperature level providing the much needed relief to the people of this teeming megapolis.
Met office said a broad cloud band located about 80-100 km east-northeast of Chennai over the Bay of Bengal led to increased cloud cover and humidity across Chennai and surrounding suburbs.
