Azamgarh, April 18 -- An anti-corruption organization team arrested a sub-inspector posted at Saraimir police station while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000. A case has been registered against him.
The accused officer, identified as Sub-Inspector Abhishek Singh, was investigating a case involving three individuals - Aditya Rai alias Avneesh Rai, Ashraf, and Mohammad Shadab - who had been booked for allegedly running a hookah bar. All three are currently out on bail.
According to officials, Abhishek Singh had demanded Rs 1 lakh to remove Avneesh Rai's name from the case. After negotiations, it was agreed that Rs 20,000 would be paid as an advance. Avneesh Rai then lodged a complaint with the anti-corruption team.
