Kasaragod, May 12 -- A structural crack has been detected on the Mattalai stretch of the under-construction National Highway-66 in Kasaragod district, triggering renewed concerns over the quality and stability of the ambitious highway project in northern Kerala.

The defect was noticed on a section of the highway where major construction works are currently in progress. The visible crack and minor subsidence in the road surface have prompted immediate attention from project engineers and field officials, who rushed to the spot for inspection.
