Imphal, Aug. 19 -- A 48-hour general strike called by the Campaign for Just and Fair Delimitation (JFD) demanding an updated National Register of Citizens (NRC) before the Census is set to end at midnight tonight, bringing to a close two days of near-total shutdown across Manipur.
The strike is supported by various Naga, Muslim, and Meitei groups.
The strike, which began at midnight on August 17, continued to paralyse normal life through its second day. Markets, schools, colleges, banks and fuel stations closed and public transport off the roads.
