Aizawl, April 28 -- Severe pre-monsoon weather conditions brought normal life to a halt across Mizoram today, as heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms swept through the state, prompting authorities to shut schools and triggering widespread damage in multiple districts.
Acting on safety concerns, Deputy Commissioners across most districts ordered the closure of educational institutions up to the higher secondary level. The precautionary measure came in response to relentless rain and gusty winds that began on Monday and continued into Tuesday. The India Meteorological Department's Aizawl centre has forecast further spells of heavy rain accompanied by strong winds, raising concerns over continued disruption.
