Dhand, Oct. 19 -- Farmers, under the leadership of Advocate Vikram Kasana, youth state president of Bharatiya Kisan union Chaduni, today locked the gate of the Market Committee office to protest against the lack of smooth procurement of paddy in Dhand grain market, delay in lifting and low prices for farmers.

Adv Kasana issued an ultimatum to the administration warning that if the problem of paddy procurement, lifting and crop lying outside the market is not resolved within two days time, then the farmers will stop the trolleys at Panchmukhi Chowk and dump the paddy and will be forced to block the road.

Farmers expressed their anger, alleging that paddy with 17 per cent moisture was being purchased for about Rs 2,200 per quintal.
