Mumbai, Sept. 25 -- Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena MLA from Worli Aaditya Thackeray has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to stop the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) decision to bulldoze houses (1 1 structures of 14 feet and above) in slum areas.
Earlier, the BMC announced a special demolition drive against extra constructions in the slum areas of the city from October 1 to December 31, 2026.
Accordingly, slums whose height is 14 feet or more will be declared unauthorised and demolished. The administration has issued notices to residents and ordered them to remove extra constructions on their own, or else the BMC will demolish them by force ," Aadiya Thackeray stated in his letter.
