New Delhi, Aug. 19 -- Indian stock markets on Wednesday extended their losing streak as investors remained concerned. The elevated crude oil prices, higher global bond yields and persistent global uncertainty were keenly watched.

At close, the Sensex was down 325.78 points or 0.42 percent at 76,909.68, and the Nifty was down 76.60 points or 0.32 percent at 24,078.30. The mid-cap index fell 0.2pc and small-cap index down by 0.5pc.

Among the sectors, except IT index (up 0.7pc) , all other sectoral indices ended in the red with Defence index shed nearly 1.5pc and Energy index down 1.2pc.
