New Delhi, Aug. 25 -- The Indian Stock Markets on Tuesday ended with decent gains. The market gains were driven by monthly expiry day and decline in oil prices influenced sentiment.

At close, Sensex ended 287 points, or 0.37%, higher at 77,656, while the Nifty settled at 24,335, rising 116 points, or 0.48%. Brent crude fell over 3% to around $89 per barrel, its lowest level in a week.

Nifty Midcap 150 rose by 0.45%. However, the Smallcap 250 index slipped 0.15%.

Among the sectors, the gainers were consumer durable, infra, IT, media, pharma, PSU Bank up 0.5% each. On the other hand, selling was seen in the energy, metal and private bank.
