New Delhi, June 15 -- Indian stock markets on Monday cheered the announcement of a peace agreement between the US and Iran, ending the session with strong gains in line with a rally across global markets.

At the close, the Sensex was up 736 points, or 0.97 per cent, at 76,264, while the Nifty ended the session at 23,854, gaining 231 points, or 0.98 per cent. During the day, Sensex touched a high of 76,821.07.

Among sectors, all NSE indices, except pharma, settled in the green led by the Nifty Realty index, which surged nearly 4 per cent.

Real estate stocks witnessed strong buying interest. Key gainers included Prestige Estates Projects, Phoenix Mills, DLF, Godrej Properties, Aditya Birla Real Estate, Sobha, and Oberoi Realty. Auto stocks...
