New Delhi, April 7 -- Indian stock market on Tuesday ended higher extending their gains for the fourth consecutive session. Nifty closed above 23,100 level with the key gainers being IT, media, metal, and realty stocks.
At close, the Sensex was up 509.73 points or 0.69 percent at 74,616.58, and the Nifty was up 155.40 points or 0.68 percent at 23,123.65. Nifty midcap index rising 0.2 percent, while smallcap index ending flat.
The overall market capitalisation of firms listed on the BSE rose to slightly more than Rs 429 lakh crore from Rs 427.5 lakh crore in the previous session.
